Pop-up restaurant: Global Kitchen — June 5-7

Global Kitchen features a variety of pop-up restaurant concepts showcasing flavors from countries represented by the Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City. On select days, different countries will be featured at the Market, offering guests the chance to explore a diverse range of authentic international cuisines. Check the schedule below to see which countries will be participating.

Dine in or carryout available. Credit or debit payments are preferred, but exact cash is also accepted.

Menus 

Bangladesh

• Chili chicken — fast-cooked Indo-Chinese fusion dish featuring crispy fried chicken tossed with pungent green chilies, onions, soy sauce, and garlic served with rice or bread
• Fried eggplant — eggplant slices pan-fried in mustard oil until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside
• Iced tea — Bangladeshi tea served cold over ice
• Mango lassi — mango pulp mixed with yogurt, milk, sugar, and cardamom or rosewater
• Zelapi — traditional deep-fried sweet made from fermented flour batter, shaped into spirals and soaked in sugary syrup

Kenya

• Sambusa — fried pastry filled with spiced potatoes and peas
• Dengu na wali wa nazi — seasoned moong daal served over coconut rice
• Assorted cookies — banana Chocolate chip, chardamom, Cashew toffee, chai spice, coconut oatmeal, lemon, and vanilla
• Kenyan chai — spiced tea

When

Location

The Kitchen is located on the mezzanine level above the main Lenexa Public Market floor. Park in the free on-site parking garage accessible from eastbound 87th Street Parkway at either Penrose Street or Winchester Street. From the ground level, enter the Lenexa City Hall building across from the garage, near the statue of Na-Nex-Se. Once inside the lobby, head to the right.
