Your sister is getting married soon, and you’ve been tasked with planning the bridal shower. Or maybe your son just got engaged, and you want to throw an engagement party. Where to begin? From baby showers, graduation parties and cocktail parties to fundraising events, private celebrations and everything in between, host your next event at the Lenexa Public Market.

The Public Market is more than a place to grab a bite. Our food hall also offers The Kitchen, a versatile event space on the mezzanine level overlooking the merchants on the Market floor. The Kitchen seats up to 69 people, with a maximum capacity of 83 at one time.

Make things easy and leave the catering to our merchants downstairs. Prefer to use an outside caterer or do your own cooking? We accommodate that, too.

We offer two rental options for The Kitchen, so you can choose the level of access that best fits your event. Both options include the same inviting event space, with a partial rental available for $75 per hour. A full rental, available for $95 per hour, also includes access to our back-of-house kitchen and cooking equipment, giving you the ability to cook, bake and prepare your favorite family recipes right here in The Kitchen.

Choose from eight different merchants for catering, or mix and match options to create a menu that works for your event. Guests can also purchase their own food and drinks downstairs. Several merchants offer alcoholic beverages.

Think of The Kitchen as a blank canvas for your event. Bring your vision to life with decor, table arrangements, signage and personal touches that transform the space to fit your theme and create an experience that feels uniquely yours.

6. Natural light and great photo opportunities

The Kitchen features large windows that fill the space with natural light, creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for capturing great photos.

7. Kitchen amenities to make hosting easier

All rentals include:

  • Countertop serving area
  • Kitchen sink
  • Full-size refrigerator and freezer
  • Two video screens

With a full rental, you’ll also have access to the back-of-house prep area and cooking equipment, including:

  • Prep tables
  • Microwave
  • Three-compartment dish sink
  • Ice maker
  • 8-burner gas range/electric oven

8. Plenty of room to mingle

The open, comfortable layout makes it easy for guests to sit, stand, move around and mingle.
