Every first Thursday of the month, Jeanne S. meets up at the Public Market with her friends Ginger and Pamela — a standing date that’s become a cherished tradition for the retired co-workers from Johnson County Community College (JCCC).
“We've retired at different times,” Jeanne said. “When we were [at JCCC], we used to get together for lunch on Thursdays. When we retired, we started coming here because there are so many different places to eat that everybody can choose what they want.”
From donuts and coffee to margherita pizza and pork tenderloin sandwiches, the trio gravitates toward familiar American favorites — each visit offering something a little different while keeping the routine they love.
