Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a global favorite – the empanada. Discover how this beloved pastry connects cultures worldwide. Join us for a festive Friday Night Sound Bites on Oct. 2, from 5 to 10 p.m., featuring live Latin beats by Selekto Show, sample authentic empanadas from local vendors, and catch incredible local talent in action showing off skills in a freestyle soccer competition.

This event is in partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City.

Event schedule

5:30 to 8:30 p.m. — Dinner food truck: TBD
7 to 10 p.m. — Band: Selekto Show playing outdoors on the Lower Commons

About the series

Grab a friend, get some grub and groove into the weekend every Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. (through Oct. 30) outside on the Lower Commons. Watch for special themed Sound Bites throughout the season.

What to know before you attend

Outside alcohol and coolers not allowed. Purchase beverages from merchants.
Food and drinks available to purchase.
Patio seating available but we encourage BYOC — bring your own chair.
Free to attend. No tickets/registration needed.

Parking

Free parking available onsite in the Lenexa Civic campus parking garage (17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy). Enter on Winchester Street or West 88th Street. Additionally, there is public parking in the Winchester Parking garage, west side of the Shawnee Mission Aquatic Center — enter on Winchester Street.
