
Join us for our Friday Night Sound Bites + Cinco de Mayo block party in collaboration with Made in KC, Underground Homies and the Enrichment Commission of Kansas City. We’re closing down Penrose Lane and taking this fiesta to the street!

4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Watch authentic Colombian dance performances by Grupo Quimbaya. Check out their Facebook group and Instagram profile.
7 to 9 p.m.
Selekto Show performing on the stage in front of Made in KC.
9-10 p.m.
Keep the party going with a live DJ and dancing.
Performances, retail vendors, and the guest food trucks will be located on the closed street: Penrose Lane between Made in KC and the Lenexa Public Market. Patio seating is available, but we encourage BYOC—bring your own chair.
Specialty menu items from Public Market Merchants (merchant hours vary):
Music is located outside the Market on the Lower Commons. Patio seating is available, but we encourage BYOC—bring your own chair.
Outside alcohol is not allowed. You may purchase alcoholic beverages from Public Market merchants or at Made in KC.
Free admission. No pre-registration or tickets required to attend.
PARKING
Parking is available onsite in the Lenexa Civic campus parking garage (17201 W. 87th St. Pkwy.). Enter on Winchester Street or West 88th Street. Additionally, there is public parking in the Winchester Parking garage, west side of the Shawnee Mission Aquatic Center — enter on Winchester Street. Attendees can also use The District parking garage entrance off Penrose Lane.

Inclement weather plan
We hope it doesn’t rain on our celebration but if it does, we will move a few of the activities indoors: the guest retail vendors, and the Grupo Quimbaya performance inside the Public Market. Acoustic performers will move indoors at Made in KC. Selekto Show and the food trucks will be canceled.
