Bring in the Lunar New Year at the Lenexa Public Market! We are partnering with the Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City for this brand-new event. Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with authentic performances, be entertained and try specialty dishes from Lenexa Public Market merchants.

Event schedule 

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
All activities take place on the main market floor. Attendees can pick up a lucky red envelope (while supplies last) from the Public Market event table. It's bound to bring you good luck in 2023!

Specialty menu items from Public Market Merchants:

• Mochi donuts & Thai tea latte from Mr. D's Coffee
• Rou Jia Mo (pork belly burger) from Cosmo Burger
• Sesame chicken crunch salad & Thai peanut pizza from Topp'd Pizza & Salads
• Egusi soup served with rice from African Dream Cuisine
• Fish soup from Red Kitchen KC
• Beef dumplings with housemade sauce from Butterfield's Bakery & Market
• Gimbap from Kimchi & Bap (pop-up restaurant) 

Specialty vendors and  activities: 

• Chinese character paper cutting — a craft for kids or adults!
• Chinese calligrapher to write new year phrases or your name.
• Participate in a Tai Chi demonstration at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and/or 1 p.m. with Grace Gong of Grace Family Acupuncture.
• Learn about the benefits of acupuncture from Grace Gong of Grace Family Acupuncture.

11:10 to 11:30 a.m. — Watch Chinese folk dance by the HK Chinese Folk Dance Group.

11:35 to 11:45 a.m. — Two dances: a folk dance, followed by a coconut dance from the Thai Cultural Center of Greater KC.
