Private Rentals at the Public Market

The Lenexa Public Market offers several spaces that can be rented for your special event. The Market is a unique destination to host:

  • Private celebrations
  • Baby or wedding showers
  • Business luncheons
  • Family activities
  • Menu testing
  • Team-building events
  • Workshops and trainings
  • Chef's dinners
  • Community events
  • Cocktail parties
  • Private demonstrations and classes
  • Fundraising events

The Kitchen
This beautiful, versatile space is located on the mezzanine level, overlooking the merchants on the Market floor. An adjacent catering/prep kitchen is included, with three-compartment sink, hand sink and prep tables (spaced is shared with Public Market merchants). The kitchen has a maximum capacity of 83 people at one time.

We have two tiers of rentals for The Kitchen.

Partial Rental — $75/hour

Full Rental — $95/hour

Fees/deposits/regulations that apply to both tiers

  • A minimum rental time of two hours, which includes your set up time, event and clean up time.

  • Reservation deposit: secures the date and time, non-refundable and applicable to total rental fee.
    • $100 for rental of four hours or less
    • $200 for rental of over four hours

  • $100 contract violation (refundable, pending no damage).

  • Assisted coordination with the Public Market Merchants for catering. If you’d rather use outside catering, we charge a $75 outside catering fee.

  • Alcohol procedures listed at the bottom of this page, if applicable for your event.

Alcohol for your event — applies to both tiers.

Should you choose to have alcohol at your event, you have two options.

  • Option 1: You and your guests can purchase alcohol from a Market vendor and bring it up to your event. We recommend this option, as this doesn’t require any additional deposits, a permit, or a security guard for your event.

  • Option 2: If you want to bring in your own alcohol, we require:
    • Alcohol Security Deposit (refundable): $100

    • Facility Alcohol Permit (non-refundable): $100. We obtain the permit on your behalf. Please note that the permit does not allow the sale of alcohol.

    • Security guard: $50/hour to be paid in cash the day of event. We arrange the security guard on your behalf. The guard will be stationed at your event 30 minutes before you open the bar and 30 minutes after last call.
